Monetization (ads) Testing Coming Soon

Hello FXGearheads,

As many of you know, I run this site in my spare time and at my own cost. As the site gained popularity, and with the added chat feature, the cost of running the site has grown (both in hard cost and time.) The chat alone counts for a noticeable portion of the costs given how it's implemented, hence why it has yet to be added to the main menu or promoted as a feature.

So to help keep the site open and running, I will be experimenting with monetization (ads.)

To be clear: This is to cover the site's operational costs, and to help grow the site (through hiring of developers to add new features as the requirement arises.) This will also serve to promote the chat as well, as any additional hosting cost would be covered as the chat room usage grows.

I encourage everyone who dislikes this idea to install Adblock for Chrome or Firefox (if you use Edge browser, you deserve to see ads anyway.)

Chrome:
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/adblock/gighmmpiobklfepjocnamgkkbiglidom

Firefox:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/adblock-plus/

That's right, I'm telling you guys how to NOT view any of the monetization efforts FXGears might impliment. I'm simply not interested in taking away from the site experience for any frequent users of the site... The main target of any ads used would be non-actively posting guests who don't even register an account.

Expect the initial changes to take place within 48 hours and testing to be done over the next week.

As always, your feedback is welcome.

Cheers!

I use an Adblocker as standard on ALL websites I visit. The issue is that the vast majority of Ads are non targeted.

If you would only accept targeted ads then I may reconsider, although not sure how it would operate. Hope that you at least vet the ads and eliminate the 'add another two inches' variety entirely.

The Ads to avoid at all costs are those that flicker to gets one's attention. All animated ads are basically irritating, whatever the content.

Thanks for the feedback. :)

Well, at the moment it's just Google's ad channels, so they will tailor ads to your own browsing habits and interest and I don't control which are displayed (as it is.)

I'm going to be experimenting with limiting the ads that are displayed to be trading foucsed, and vetoing anything about b1nary 0ptions (don't want to set off the keyword trigger on this page for the ad units.. lol,) as well as other get rich quick schemes.

I may work with targeted ad placement in the future.. . obviously this will only be with companies that are respectable, not just the highest bidder.

Good for you mate ,pleased you get rewarded by your efforts and time you put in

Just what i need.. Yay!
I knew you were a pimp :p

The best part is: that's what google figures you'd be into.. LOL

Google bases which ads are displayed on your browsing profile mixed with the content of this site.

I'll turn off some subjects on a higher level.. no need for dating sites to be advertised here.

And even the solution of how to fund the afromentioned advantures.. >:D

I suspect that some here need a dating site LOL

I turned off my Ad Blocker for a couple of days. Whilst I did not find the Ads annoying I also did not see any Ads that were of interest, just the same old stuff, so decided to turn back on the Ad Blocker.

On the off chance that you would just acknowledge focused on advertisements, at that point I may reevaluate, in spite of the fact that not certain how it would work. Expectation that you at any rate vet the promotions and wipe out the 'mix it up altogether.

The Ads to keep away from no matter what are those that flash to stands out enough to be noticed. Every single enlivened promotion are fundamentally aggravating, whatever the substance.
