Hello everyone. I'm from Brazil and I am 22 years old, introverted and self-taught - currenctly a PHP/Lua Programmer. It is a pleasure be on this forum, it took a little bit time to introduce myself xD.

I'm currenctly trading in B3 (the stock exchanger from Brazil), but because the low volatility in our index I was thinking in going to Forex again. I traded in the past Forex but I didnt had any experience, now with more knowledge I think that I'm ready for more volability.

In the past I tried to use my knowledge to create a algo for london breakouts but didn't succeed at this task.

Please if I don't write the English property, I would love some feedbacks to improve.

Regards,
vankk.

Hello and welcome!

I actually know the BMF Bovespa / B3 quite well. I've traded Brazilian equities and futures for years. Some of the best trading happened around political turmoil happening in Brazil.

Spend a moment to describe your algo setup and how far you got algo trading! :)

Hi vankk welcome and for the record your english is excellent. English is my first language and many people would say they struggle to understand me due to my local accent ;)

Damn that is nice to heard about! How was your experience with the B3? I will spare a few minutes at this afternoon.

Honestly, the best way I could describe Brazil's markets would be "kinda just making things up as they go."

Like, they once rang the bell early so everyone can go home to watch a football/soccer game.

Or how they've changed their policy on daylight savings time adjustments based on what mood they seem to be in... first keeping their own hours, then shifting to operate closer to NYSE's hours for only half the year (while being a solid 2 hours offset the other half,) then doing some hybrid shift so they are nearly like NYSE's hours year round, which made the locals in Brazil keep completely batty work hours.

Or how they quote any of their BRL currency futures on the derivatives side.. Like, make the contract's notional value $10k or $50k in USD, but don't quote the contract at the exchange rate, no no, why follow along with every other popular currency future in the world, or every sport currency pair, or even the ISO standard for quoting exchange rates... No, instead make the quote what $1000 USD would be in BRL, even though the $1000 number has no other reference in the contract specs and has shit all to do with the notional value of the contract. Whoever wrote the contract specs must have just hated decimal places and best practices... I'm sure there was some problem they solved with this but the logic behind it is beyond me.

So yeah.. I actually like Brazil's markets, but it's silly.

That is most of our culture: soccer, beer and complaining about the country (I don't need say anything about womens, right? xD). You are seeing just the pit of the Iceberg, there is alot more about the markets and the culture that is wrong. At this last election for President it became better with a right side president, the problem is now we got right side dummies that defends everything that the presidents say, the people seems that doesn't think anymore by their own.

Sorry for the delay, I was invited to my dad's party and I had to do something before I could participate. Anyway, my experience with algo was pretty weird, could't make that to work, let me explain my history with programming.

I can code since my 12 years old that I code on a languague called Lua for a MMORPG - and I started learning more about PHP, MySQL, C++. When I made 18 years old I started working with that and started learning more about Python, JavaScript em Java that I learned in collegue.

My experience with algo was last year on October, that I tried create a small strategy: London Breakout. The code simple didn't work. The code was a pretty messy because on the Backtests it doesn't worked as should - sometime the code didn't buy and in other time the code didn't sell. In that month the market was pretty a messy because of Brexit, so I killed the project and didn't tried create anymore algo.

I saw the your post Jack about algo with XRP, and I started thinking in someone create a code for that. I readed the code like four more times and couldn't think in anyway to make a code for that.

I'm thinking in start trading DAX & GBPAUD, GBPNZD - but for that I'll need wake up like 2 A.M (GMT -3). I was thinking in create some algo for that don't know.
