Hi there! What made you deviate over to forex from equities and indices?

Hi, welcome to the group. Looks like you are quite well experienced. How are you finding the change to forex? Do you trade full time or is it a side hustle for you?

I personally trade forex, cryptos, equities and indices without major differences except the fact that you need to adapt a bit to different paces, times and volatility.

But I see no difference among any exchange-type asset class to be honest, meaning that if you are already trading indices and equities, you will find easy to learn the particularities of FX, no matter if you use indicators, technical analysis or both. Forex is not about fundamentals, because their prices are set by central banks at their convenience; but you will find correlations with interest rates, bond yields, gold and oil prices sometimes. There are also seasonality charts that may clarify why something is doing that thing. Forex is very speculative, there is not a balance sheet where you can infer if something is under or over-valuated. Oversold and overbought do not make sense for FX either. It is all about central banks doing their business as they wish.

Another important aspect of FX and also Cryptos are the triads of symbols that can be used to create triangular arbitrage. I usually analyze FX using triads, like EURUSD EURGBP and GBPUSD as a whole.

Finally, FX manipulation is usually noticeable if you study also three or four assets that share all one currency (like EURUSD USDCAD AUDUSD NZDUSD and USDJPY, all share USD). If you see one of these diverging, there you are.

Ok, good luck in your new endeavour.

Nice to have you here. Surely, things get easier when we share our experience with each other. I look forward to knowing some of your learnings that you have learned by trading for years.
