I was a bit rude before

Hi folks,

I am Tom, Retired from a career in education. Australian, but now living in New Zealand.

Been trading via OANDA desktop platform since 2003. Commenced way too big, with the equivalent of a year's salary. Lost most of it within two years, and now trying to claw my way back to evens, and one day to profit.

Have looked at a couple of other platforms but haven't been dissuaded from continuing with the OANDA desktop platform. That's not to say that I love that software - well actually I do - but I loathe how they have diminished some of its functionality, particularly (it seems to me) as the company moved its focus onto serving 'mobile' traders.

I used to enjoy the OANDA forums - but many years ago they were basically killed off. I can't remember what happened, but the life just went out of those forums, and I didn't seek out any others.

Why my weird title? Well, two reasons: Firstly, perhaps it might attract more attention - not that I am an attention-seeker. Secondly, and the real reason, because I entered this website with a request for help - can't remember the thread title. And I think that is pretty rude to just jump in and ask for help, and have no other interaction.

Hi Tom,

Aye the mobile thing - likely they've done some site analysis and realized that a greater number are using mobile than pc.

I have a few sites and same thing over this past few years, mostly the older folk use pc's and the under 50's use their phones.

Take care.

Hey Tom.
oandas “web” charts are a white labelled “trading view”. They are pretty and support most of the fxdesktop features and look great on a computer screen.

True Bro, but I wonder if they have analysed the trade volume by the same demographics? The young ones will be more abundant, but the account sizes are likely smaller. It peeved me that not only did they shift their technical focus toward the mobile platforms but they took away some of the functionality of the desktop platform. It's like they are trying to dissuade us from continuing to use it. I wonder if they plan to stop supporting it altogether?

Hiya Sven, I confess I haven't looked at it a lot. I took a brief peek recently and it looked like it has many of the features of the desktop platform, but in a different layout/format. The big put off though was it seemed to lack the min/max graphing option.

However, if I can't the desktop platform working on my lubuntu system soon - I may be forced to take a closer look at the "web" version.
