New Responsive Theme Launched!

I did a quick and dirty edit that might work for now.. but I still want to tighten up a few white spaces around the posts and user IDs presented.

Hit the refresh button to grab the new changes; on larger widescreen monitors (anything beyond 1200px wide) it should just try to use 80% of the screen space available to a max of 1450px.

When I open a thread it opens to the first page instead of opening directly to the last page with the most recent posts. I looked around in the profile setting and didn't find any way to change this. Am I missing it somehow?

Jack, thanks for all the hard work you put into this site. Its turning into a nice trading community.

Thanks.

Are you clicking on the posted date in the far right area?

Maybe I'll make the thread title also go to the latest unread post... mm..

Minor improvement

Prefer the old look of this forum, it was easier to look up for latest topic posted. :(

I wanted to do away with the front page since it was ugly and very few people used it. However, I'm thinking of putting in a recent posts table on the main board index page to see how it fits.

In the mean time, try the updated topics link near your user name in the upper right:

Just want to say that I like the new design a lot. I build websites & apps for a living so I know how annoying it is to be nitpicked, sorry :)

What about removing the dropdown "actions" and just having the quote button at the top? Also what about having that new footer appear on interior pages as well?

I expected a few to express their dislike for the new theme.. it's always impossible to make everyone happy, but if a few tweaks can help south the growing pains then it's no bother on my end.

What do you mean by the 'few footer on interior pages'? Could you provide an example?

Basically having this footer: http://d.pr/i/15MTQ on board index views (like http://fxgears.com/forum/index.php/board,10.0.html) and also having it on thread views (like this thread).

I'd term it "constructive criticism"

That works when you are browsing through the forum. If I click on the "recently updated" thread button then it forces you to click on the thread tittle which in turn takes you to the beginning of the thread instead of the latest page.

You're right, on the updated posts page it doesn't link. Thanks for pointing this out, I'll have it linked in a few min.

I like the old home page better. Everything else looks Good. Thanks for the hard work.

Was there something specific about the old homepage you liked? Just the way it sorted recent topics?

I'm in the middle of replacing the recent posts on the main board index (which shows every single post even if multiple ones are from the same thread, causing an active thread to dominate the list and push others out of view,) with something more like this:

http://fxgears.com/forum/SSI.php?ssi_function=recentTopics
(not styled, just a generated table, but shows what I mean.)

So each topic only shows up once, and just gets a bump to the top of the list if there's a new post.

can you make the quoted text bigger? it's so small I have to lean into the screen to read it :p

That was something I noticed as well. Hit refresh on your browser; should be better now.

Jack

suggest that you reduce the size and horizontal ratio of the LH side Avatars. This may free up some screen space for the posts
