"...NFA fines Larry Williams for not reporting to potential clients that, while his personal account in a promotional 1987 contest was very profitable ( a gain of + $902,599 ), his managed accounts for clients lost substantial funds ( - $6,122,281 ).

This constituted deceptive and unbalanced promotional material and disclosure statements.

I think that its very much related..

Details in William Gallacher's book Winner Take All.

Footnote -- In July 1988, the Larry Williams Financial Strategy Fund was launched, followed in March 1989 by the World Cup Championship Fund, managed by Larry Williams, Jake Bernstein and two others.

The 1988 fund lost more than 50% of its clients' equity in barely one year, as reported in the October 1989 issue of Futures magazine.

The 1989 fund also lost more than half of its original equity by May 1990. ..."

Jake the snake is Larry's buddy and permanently banned from the NFA.

That's fine mate Piper
Like i said before, i take the best from the best and use it to my own advantage,
even the best have there worst. Focus on the positive result, learning from the negative,
that's what i am about

I had two relatives that went to war, they kept shooting till they hit something, even dying for it.
1 survived to become fond of the drink they fed him after woods, but omg he had a good time and enjoyed life there after until they chopped his legs off. He was not the most perfect person in the world, though his experience gave other courage, including myself.
I will stand up for anyone who has guts, even if they can never win!

I'd be surprised if all were not already aware of Larry's 'enigmatic' past. Nevertheless he did release some interesting teaching in the early days. His daughter was reasonably cute, although a better actor than trader, despite having Larry as a mentor.

Not a sales pitch

Just Larry talking is enough

Trouble is that it is just one big sales pitch.
Whilst I do find value in Larry's early work I do find that his later teaching (read sales) leaves me cold.

Yeh, there does come a time in a traders early development, to decide for them self, what will and wont work for there developed strategies. i have jumped from mentor to mentor through my own time, only to realize that there is only one person that will pull the trigger for me.

Once i created a model along side of my best developed plan of action, things started to gel better.

Be a perfectionist, wise words from the most talked about mentor on this forum...

My Mentor and yes listen closely... he says what we do is insane. Mentors are good but do not refrain from thinking outside their boundaries... myself included.

To put it bluntly, imho, Larry is past it and now seems to have become merely another 'educationalist'.

That vid was posted above already Michael. Maybe you meant to put up these, the ones from your Tweets.

But this is the important point from your post IMO.

Rod is right about Larry I think. He may have had something to offer in the early days but now he is basically a salesman and entertainer.

Hey G'Day AusDoc!

Actually I intended to post that video, but with the time it starts playback at a specific point. I wanted to highlight the notion just because our Mentors don't subscribe to a particular view that doesn't mean we as Traders can't still find wicked success in that very thing. I fall under this statement as well.

In all your getting... get wisdom.

Hey Michael, thanks for the Aussie greeting, G'day yourself!

I agree, that's a good point. The obverse is also true, that just because our mentors do subscribe to a particular view (that presumably "works" for them) it doesn't mean it is useful or relevant or applicable to everyone.

I think you sat in on the recent webinar by Chris Lori (Why We Can Trade This Market!) where he presented his model for trader success. You will recall his thesis that each trader must acquire a lot of knowledge and skills from varied sources on several topics but ultimately must make it all their own, they must become capable of independent thinking.

For other readers, the model Chris presented is attached. It has obvious flaws that leap out at me but it's intention is sound, so just note the essential; that becoming a successful trader is a process involving multiple factors that must be synthesized and integrated to achieve the outcome of independent thinking.

And Michael, I noticed your tweet about ICT Jr. Congratulations! I'm sure you are very proud of him.
