Are you on 18.04 LTS with the Unity desktop?
Sounds like when you double click the shortcut you're opening the shortcut in a text editor instead of having it launch the application.
If you open a terminal window, you can execute it yourself by copying and pasting the line in your post after...
I do not currently recommend them. I do not feel comfortable with a brand that sensationalizes and twists the prop industry model to get attention.
There are some good choices available that we have detailed here...
Did you meet your "friends" online? Was it a social or dating site?
Are you aware there's an extremely common scam being seen where people are befriended online by an attractive person of the sex you're into, spending weeks or even months building a "relationship", then they start bragging...
I believe in teaching, and encourage people to figure it out themselves after pointing them in the right direction.. but that said, this one turns out to be more than just an extra line given you gotta declare a conversion key for the aggregate. So harder than the 'one liner' I suggested...

I cannot recommend xglobal
I would, however, point out Pepperstone, as they are regulated by multiple jurisdictions in Europe (UK, Germany, etc..) and have excellent execution quality.
